Thanks to more than 7,500 participants and 16 sponsors involved with this year’s Step Up for Mental Health run – presented by Cameco – $180,500 is being donated to 21 charities/not-for-profits to provide mental health support across Saskatchewan.
The Saskatoon Community Foundation and 321 Go Running announced Tuesday that a record 78 applications for funding were received at the conclusion of the 5K/10K/21.1K event in September.
After adjudication from a three-member panel, the following charities/not-for-profits were chosen to receive payment from the Step Up for Mental Health Fund.
Step Up 2025 Grants
1. Boys & Girls Club of Saskatoon – $10,000
No-cost access to mental health services
2. Bring2Life Creative Counselling (Rhein) – $10.000
Mobile counselling in rural/remote communities
3. Children North Early Intervention Program (La Ronge) – $10,000
Building confidence and self-esteem in northern youth
4. CMHA Saskatoon – $10,000
Expansion of youth mental health programming
5. Crocus Cooperative (Saskatoon) – $10,000
Transitional employment program for those with mental health experiences
6. Heart-Linked Community Services Co-operative (Saskatoon) – $10,000
Mental health retreat for Indigenous youth in remote northern communities
7. Hope Restored Canada (Saskatoon) – $10,000
Trauma-informed counselling for those who have experienced sexual exploitation
8. Horizon School Division (Humboldt) – $5,000
Mental Health Day in Humboldt for 300 students and teachers
9. Legacy One (Saskatoon) – $9,600
Mental health presentation/workshop in four schools
10. Living Sky School Division (Battleford) – $10,000
Suicide alert training for all high school students in the division
11. Lloydminster Region Health Foundation – $5,000
Assisting individuals in mental health crisis in Lloydminster and rural SK
12. Nutrien Wonderhub – $3,000
Youth programming
13. OUT Saskatoon – $10,000
Monthly talking circles that provide a safe, inclusive space
14. Prairie Harm Reduction (Saskatoon) – $10,000
Provide suicide intervention skills training to front-line workers
15. Project Hope Canada (Saskatoon) – $10,000
Mentoring 30 Indigenous youth, equipping them with mental health/wellness skills
16. Sacred Heart High School (Yorkton) – $7,500
Student coping tools project
17. Saskatoon Crisis Intervention Service Inc. – $5,400
Employee well-being project
18. Saskatoon Industry Education Council – $5,000
