Prince Albert to host running festival for charity

Raiders Run and Summit Run combine to create one running weekend

The Malcolm J. Jenkins Family Foundation presents the Prince Albert Running Festival – featuring the Summit Run and Raiders Run on Sunday, October 18 with all proceeds to the Boreal Healthcare Foundation.

The Festival brings together Prince Albert’s two largest running events to create one major running celebration – and the final large running day on Saskatchewan’s yearly calendar. The Festival expects to attract several hundred runners to the start line in Prince Albert with net proceeds donated to the hospital that serves northern Saskatchewan.

Registration opens Friday, June 19 at www.321gorunning.ca with special early-bird pricing for all four distances:

  • Raiders Run 2K
  • Raiders Run 5K
  • Summit Run 10K – presented by CBI Health
  • Summit Run 10 Mile – presented by Oasis Mental Health

For nearly 20 years, the Summit Run has been a staple in Prince Albert with a traditional date in June. With the long-time organizers wanting to partner with 321 Go Running – a Saskatchewan company that operates charity events – the opportunity to create a larger festival in fall became possible. The Raiders Run – which is already a partnership between the Prince Albert Raiders hockey team and 321 Go Running – is entering its third year with Raiders players on the running course and at the finish line to celebrate with the community.

“There’s something special about seeing a community come together with a shared purpose. Every person who shows up to walk, run, cheer, volunteer, or donate becomes part of something bigger than the event itself. They become part of a story of caring for their neighbours,” said Andy Cohen, manager of donor engagement with the Boreal Healthcare Foundation.
